Ever thought about where the detergent goes when you wash your car on a cement driveway?
Engine grime, dirty water and soap washes off your car, flows straight down your driveway, down the street, into a curb inlet, and ends up in a nearby creek. Detergents in our creeks and ponds pose a very real threat to our fish. If you don't want to go to a local car wash, (where the waste water is directed to water treatment plants), you can still make a big difference just by parking your car on the grass. Mother Nature's own filtering systems will help keep the pollutant's out of the waterways better than the water passing over cement. Read more about what you can do to make a difference!
